The Barfield DPS350 Air Data Tester is a unit based on a microprocessor using the most recent in transducer technology. The DPS350 works the same to Barfield's 1811 series testers but the transducer technology used is almost invulnerable to the expensive repairs normally experienced by analog instruments. Software having a programmable defense limit characteristic has been integrated into the DPS350 to insulate the aircraft instruments from damage resulting from negative airspeed and over pressurization situation. Defense limit is given by computer actuated solenoid valves that defend aircraft altitude, airspeed, rate of climb/decent and mach instruments.
The high precision and a steadiness shown by the transducers succeed the DPS350 for use on aircraft being certified for Reduced Vertical Separation Minimum (RVSM) procedure and augment the calibration interval from 30 days to once a year. The plain menu driven digital display measures and shows Altitude, Vertical Speed, Airspeed, EPR and other values in a variety of units of measure, including: Ft, M, Kts, Km/hr, Mach, Ft/min, M/min, EPR (Pt/Ps), inHg, mb, and psia. DPS 350 also incorporates internal pumps that can create a pressure and vacuum appropriate for simulating 55K Ft, 650 Knots, and 6000 Ft/min circumstances in wide body aircraft.
